Uses
With its heavy wire build, the Competition 970BL Streamer Hooks excel in patterns that get down deep. These hooks were made with streamer applications in mind and they do a fantastic job at imitating small to medium-sized baitfish, however, theyre also an excellent choice when tying big nymphs such as stonefly and dragonfly patterns.
Comparisons With their TMC 5262 Heavy Nymph and Streamer Hooks, Tiemco gives a comparable alternative to Hanaks Competition 970BL Hooks. Just like the 970BL, the TMC 5262 are made with a heavy wire and feature a 2x long shank, which makes them an equally great choice when tying streamers and large nymphs. While these are a good alternative to the 970BL, there are a few differences like the TMC 5262s bronze finish, its slightly smaller gap, and a downturned eye, so if youre looking for the stealth of a black nickel finish or need to increase your gap, Hanaks 970BL might be a better choice. Regardless, these are both quality hooks that you can fish with confidence.
